Vince Gill
Guitar Slinger Deluxe Edition
Review by Andy Argyrakis

Though the title of Vince Gill’s latest long player indicates it’s all about his primary instrument, there’s actually a lot more depth and exploration contained therein. While the collection isn’t as expansive as his last studio effort “These Days” (which came from such prolific sessions it actually took up four discs), he dives into bits of the blues, R&B, Tex-Mex, rock n’ roll, and of course, plenty of his primary country genre.
“All Nighter Comin’” is a burly swinger, “Threaten Me With Heaven” is a spine-chilling, contemplative ballad, the title track boasts some of his most fiery licks to date, while “Billy Paul” is a slow roasting folk popper. Gill also shines vocally and musically on “True Love,” a jazzy, tender-hearted duet with his wife Amy Grant that adds some extra icing to this fulfilling deluxe edition.
