They Might Be Giants
Join Us
Review by Eric Ridenour

Longer than most readers have been alive, They Might Be Giants have rocked the accordion. The band’s been on a roll releasing several children’s albums in recent years, but “Join Us” marks its first adult album since 2007. Much like past quirky singles “Istanbul (Not Constantinople)” and “Particle Man,” “Join Us” includes such random songs as “Can’t Keep Johnny Down” and “Spoiler Alert.”
However, the overall feel of the album is nothing special, as the band is one that a listener would either love or hate with most albums and songs sounding similar. If there is one thing the group can do for any listener, it’s evoke a smile from the lyrics. After over thirty years in the business, at least TMBG has consistency and the fact that its lasted this long is still something to celebrate.
