Madi Diaz
Plastic Moon (tinyOGRE Entertainment) B+
Review By Matt Conner

This 25-year-old Nashville resident has worked the independent songwriter route for a while, hitting Berklee after high school before moving to NYC and then Music City in her pursuit of making music and getting noticed. Something has finally clicked as Diaz’s whip-smart pop constructs have found a home among her fellow Nashville-ians.
Her recent tour experience opening for the Civil Wars makes sense when taking in affecting tracks like “Heavy Heart” and “Twenty-Two” and the former should truly take off if given a chance. “Let’s Go” is the official lead single, and it’s somehow a brooding and brightening hook all at once. Not everything works as well as “Heavy Heart” and “Let’s Go” (“Johnny Don’t Race” fails to really catch on as the lead track), but enough sails are in place for the wind to really catch hold. Diaz’s work here is a strong example of artistic accessibility.
