The Afterdarks

The Afterdarks
Blood Sweat & Gears

Campus Correspondent Review By Eric Ridenour,

One thing that can be noted that can’t be said very often about an album is the fact that every song on The Afterdarks’ Blood Sweat & Gears (Green Goo Records) shows talent and is very catchy. The song arrangement is a bit odd, being that the band doesn’t really mix up the different styles very well, with power in the beginning, more melody towards the end and all acoustic songs in one place near the end.

Nonetheless, with a decent range of rockabilly and punk influences, members’ testosterone fueled lyrics focus on just what the title insinuates (plus beer, you can’t forget the beer!) This album is pure fun from beginning to end, featuring an exhaustive list of enjoyable songs that will get listeners up and on their feet. While 31 songs is a bit overkill, however, there is never such a thing as too much music. After a listen to this album, it’s apparent that while The Afterdarks have until now toured somewhat locally, national attention and playing is sure to be seen in the near future.
