Jimmy Buffett
Buffett Hotel

Campus Correspondent Review By Andy Argyrakis,
Campus Correspondents coordinator

When it comes to Jimmy Buffett, there are two types of listeners. The first is comprised of folks who only know “Margaritaville,” while the second frequents shows every summer wearing cheeseburger hats and waving their “Fins” to the left and right. The former won’t care about Buffett Hotel in the slightest, while the latter can take comfort in his sandals at the beach consistency. “Wings,” “Beautiful Swimmers,” “Tune Up the Heat and Chill the Rosé” and “Summerzcool” all capitalize on Buffett’s regular bag of clichés as banjos and acoustic guitars conjure up images of colorful cocktails and hula girls.

While it would be tempting to assume the album is strictly predictable from start to finish, the finale track “A Lot To Drink About” actually finds the Coral Reefer leader locked in a classic country framework to address America’s economic decay, which in a change of pace from the other tunes, could actually apply to any audience.
