OneRepublic
Waking Up

Campus Correspondent Review By Eric Ridenour,
Pima College

With the widespread success of band’s debut album Dreaming Out Loud, coupled with even further attention for front man Ryan Tedder thanks to his songwriter and production side projects, OneRepublic has quickly put out its sophomore album and the rush is apparent. While “All The Right Moves” and “All This Time” make for pleasant listens, the continuously mellow and pleasing sounds can’t help but feel like they were written under the gun.

Nonetheless, the title track, Waking Up is definitely one of the strong points thanks to some fairly heavy U2 influence, in turn, becoming one of the most memorable tracks on the album. Even so, this is an average album from a band with over average potential. New listeners would be best served with giving the band’s debut disc Dreaming Out Loud a try before investing in this release.
