A good, old-fashioned power-pop act, Nashville’s Pink Spiders are punk enough for the Warped Tour and pop enough for mainstream radio. Producer Brendan O’Brien (Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Bruce Springsteen) balances the band’s dual tendencies perfectly on this excellent album, playing up the snotty vocals in the barnburner “Gimme Chemicals” and opting for a retro vibe on the lurching, Squeeze-like “Truth or Dare.”
