Bob Gendron
Gentlemen

Bob Gendron’s book on the Afghan Whigs’ 1993 album is one of the better publications in the 33 1/3 series. Gendron actually does his research, interviewing all the members of the Cincinnati-based band (even the one who quit the group during a bitter dispute). While you might not agree with his assessment that the Whigs were a band that “truly sounded like no other,” his story of how the soulful indie rock group’s best album came to be is nicely pieced together.
